[Cephalopoda] An organ of greater or lesser complexity that produces and distributes bioluminescence, either intrinsically through biochemical reaction or extrinsically through luminescent bacteria (Ce 1E, Ce 1K, Ce 1L).

[Pisces] A light-producing organ. Light may be produced from compounds produced by the fish itself or from prey it has ingested, or by symbiotic bacteria. The organ may be simple or variously equipped with reflectors, lenses, shutters, etc., e.g. in Myctophidae, Gonostomatidae, Batrachoididae.
