[Crustacea] The simple central eye typical of the earliest nauplius stages of crustaceans. In many higher crustaceans it is modified into an endocrine organ.
[Ostracoda] The naupliar eye is retained in adult cypridinids as a light receptor, but in adult halocyprids is modified into the frontal organ (male frontal organ /1st antenna; adult female, fr. organ/1st ant).
Alternative form for naupliar eye : nauplius eye.
