[Pteropoda] In profile, the strong bending of the dorsal side where it goes over into the dorsal lip in Cavoliniidae; the outside is sometimes called the outer hump, the bend visible on the inside of the aperture is the inner hump; both are frequently used as diagnostic characters (Diacavolinia in lateral view).
