[Cubo-/Scyphomedusae] In some rhizostomes, a narrow filamentous extension from the mouth-arm, typically densely armed with nematocysts and assumed to be used in defence or for the stunning of prey. Both terminal and lateral filaments occur, this varying with the species. See also club; gastric cirri.
